CLIENT NEEDS

One thing that makes HELP Ministry unique is that we assist our clients with such a wide array of needs. Most people come to us for very practical things-- furniture, appliances, housewares, transportation, home repairs, rent assistance, etc.  We have a large warehouse and many volunteers who love to help people in these ways.  We can meet these needs directly when we have the goods.

Sometimes people need specialized counselling or their funding needs are more than we can supply. Frequently, we direct them to other area organizations that can assist where we do not have the staff or resources.

Whatever the need, HELP Ministry tries to meet it without judging our clients for reaching out.  We try to help people by meeting more than their immediate need, and by offering personal counselling, if appropriate, that will prevent them from falling into the same situation again.  We start from a position of grace  and would rather give away an extra sofa than fail to provide one for someone who really needed it.

We see a wide array of situations and work closely with many local area agencies.    We know who is abusing the system and we can help local area churches screen their own requests to ensure they are giving to genuine human needs.

MINISTRY NEEDS

All of HELP Ministry's needs revolve around our clients.  Mostly what we need are good used beds, appliances and furniture.  We do need monetary donations as well, and because all of our staff are volunteers (except for our director, Larry Lange), most of the donated money goes directly to meeting people's needs.

We need volunteers to help with intake and to staff the office-- this will allow us to consistently extend our open hours.  We need volunteers to clean, test and repair donated furniture and appliances. We need handy people to perform simple household repairs, build handicap ramps and repair cars.  We need people to pickup and deliver the furniture and appliances we provide.  We need people (hundreds of them!) to work in our fundraisers (soup supper, and MAD ride).

We need people to work in and ride in the MAD RIDE fundraiser.
